About the photographer

Janie Simpson was born and raised outside of Richmond, VA in Mechanicsville. Since a young age, she has been immersed in the arts world through dance and music. By the time she was in high school, she had a love for capturing portraits and dance. She studied black & white film photography for three years, before going all digital in 2016.  Janie attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied dance and photojournalism. When she moved back to Richmond in July of 2019, she was ready to show everyone her talents in photography. 
Janie has done countless photoshoots since then. She specializes in dance photography, families, and couples. Janie promises to make each client feel special, welcome, and comfortable in front of the camera.
